Do you do this? It is a good idea to teach children that if they have a lot of stuff, it can turn to clutter. From my experience working with families, the children would prefer to have a room that is spacious, lots of room to play and have friends over, then have a gazillion toys that take up a lot of the space. You may not realize it but children can feel overwhelmed by clutter just like adults. ... See MoreSee Less

Tuesdays Tip. Do you do this?

My new office! I am back in Stittsville, not to live but to work. On days that I was not at a client's home, I would work from home, but found I wasn't as productive as I should be. Too many distractions. So now I have an office to go to and I am thrilled. I am very lucky that every day I wake up and do what I love. 2.5 years ago I took a big risk and quit my job to focus full-time on Second Set of Hands (www.secondsetofhands.ca) Thank you to everyone who has helped make this dream of mine possible (realtors, friends, family members, entrepreneurs, and of course our wonderful clients). Do you find it hard to let go? This week we worked with some very special clients. 1.A client whose roommate passed away at a young age and needed help going through her items. 2. A client who needed help going through items in a POD that was in her driveway. 3. Senior downsizing 4. Basement decluttering where we removed our client's donations and garbage. 5. Basement decluttering/organizing with a client that had a LOT of children's toys to let go and her children are now adults. What an amazing week helping our clients let go. ... See MoreSee Less

When organizing a kitchen cupboard, the first step is to take everything out and put like items together. You will notice in the first picture (before) condiments such as ketchup and mustard are on two different shelves, and so is flour and sugar. In the second picture (after) we put dry baking ingredients on the top shelf in containers and labelled, and used labelled containers to store smaller baking items on the second shelf. Now all baking products are together and easy to find. We moved the condiments to another shelf. ... See MoreSee Less

Do you make your children's lunches? If so, here is a way to organize the food ahead of time, making it easy for your children to pack. I taught my kids to make their own lunches at a young age, but they would have loved it if I had done this for them.
